Mold Toxicity, CIRS, & Allergy Support in Mooresville, NC

Integrative Nutrition and Root-Cause Support for Mold Toxicity, CIRS, and the Allergies That Never Seem to Clear Up

In-Network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Aetna, Anthem, and VA Benefits

Your nose has been stuffy since spring of 2025. You’re exhausted by 2 pm, and your brain feels like it’s wrapped in cotton. Sound familiar?

Very often, the culprit is mold. And for some people, that exposure turns into Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS). Our team in Mooresville, NC helps people across Lake Norman and the Charlotte area figure out whether it’s mold toxicity, CIRS, allergies, or all three — so you can finally start recovering.

Insurance may cover up to 100% of your dietitian visits, and we’ll check your benefits before you spend a dime.

Advanced Integrative Protocols for Complex Cases

After years of dead ends with specialists, our clients get answers and real relief from frustrating symptoms.

Here’s one story, in a client’s own words:

For years, I had acute hives that were eventually linked to a digestive intolerance. A gastroenterologist claimed it was a histamine problem and referred me to an allergist. My allergist claimed it was digestive and referred me to the gastroenterologist. A classic case of specialists stating the ball didn’t belong in their court and lobbing it elsewhere. This did not help the problem.

Christiane Matey gave me a few tests which showed that the problem was mold in my system. I believe it was the first time anyone thought to look at mold as a possibility. Fortunately, she did, and she has a treatment protocol for mold toxicity.

The protocol — capsules, drops, and sprays over a period of months — takes some diligence to follow, but it did work! I can eat a greater variety of food again and the itching and welts are gone. I am very thankful to have been referred to someone who knew what to do.

We know how exhausting it is to feel sick while everyone around you shrugs. MINT Nutrition is led by board-certified registered dietitians with advanced training in integrative and functional nutrition.

No Extreme Cleanses or 30-Day “Detox Kits.” Here’s What You Can Expect:

Is It Allergies, Mold Toxicity, or CIRS?

Mold toxicity and CIRS often overlap, and many of the symptoms look the same:

Here’s a quick way to tell them apart:

  • Seasonal allergies usually respond to allergy meds and come and go with the pollen count.
  • Mold toxicity symptoms hang around all year, get worse at home or at work, and barely budge with antihistamines because mold toxins (called mycotoxins) build up in your body faster than you can clear them.
  • CIRS inflammation symptoms continue even after you leave the moldy building because your immune system gets stuck in “on” mode after exposure to biotoxins like mold (and sometimes tick bites or viral infections).

The difference is what’s driving the symptoms. That’s why the right testing (and a guide who knows what to look for) matters so much.

Your Symptoms Aren’t Random.
They Might Be CIRS.

Results That Go Beyond Symptom Relief

How We Help You Recover From Mold Toxicity and CIRS

Whether you’re dealing with mold toxicity, CIRS, or both, recovery works best as a sequence, not a scramble. Here’s how we guide you through it.

Begin With Your Whole Story

Maybe it started after you moved into a new house, or right after that leak under the kitchen sink got “fixed.” Most people never link the two until someone asks the right questions. That timeline often tells us more than any single lab, so we review your:

Mold Toxicity, CIRS, and Functional Lab Testing

Standard lab panels just aren’t designed to look for mold toxins, CIRS markers, or the gut and inflammation fallout they leave behind. When it’s appropriate, testing may include:

Remove the Exposure First

Ever feel better on vacation, then crummy again the minute you walk back through your front door? That’s a clue worth following. You can’t out-supplement a moldy house, and detoxing while you’re still exposed is like bailing water from a boat with a hole in it. We’ll help you:

Open the Exit Routes Before You Detox

Think of your liver, gallbladder, kidneys, and bowels as your body’s drains. If you’ve ever poured something down a clogged sink, you know what happens next: it backs up. Toxins work the same way, so we open things up before we start moving anything out, with:

Rebuild Your Gut and Calm Inflammation

If foods you’ve eaten for years suddenly leave you bloated, itchy, or foggy, your gut may be taking the hit. Mycotoxins and the nonstop inflammation of CIRS can damage your gut lining and disrupt your microbiome, fueling food sensitivities and more inflammation. Your plan may include:

Targeted Supplement Protocols (Not a Shopping Cart Full of Guesses)

If your kitchen cabinet already looks like a supplement aisle and you still feel lousy, you’re not alone. More pills aren’t the answer. The right ones, at the right dose and the right time, are. Based on your labs and symptoms, recommendations may include:

Every supplement from our FullScript dispensary is third-party tested, professional grade, and dosed for what your body actually needs.

Mold toxicity and CIRS recovery isn’t a straight line. Some weeks you’ll feel like a new person, and other weeks you’ll wonder if anything’s working. Both are normal, and you won’t be figuring it out alone. Here’s how we keep you on track:

MOLD TOXICITY & CIRS FAQs

Our most frequently asked questions

The most common ones are fatigue that doesn’t improve with rest, brain fog, headaches, stubborn sinus congestion, achy joints, and digestive trouble. Many people also notice skin rashes, anxiety, or suddenly reacting to smells and foods that never bothered them before. Because the symptoms are so spread out, they’re often blamed on stress, aging, or “just allergies.”

CIRS stands for Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome. It’s a condition where your immune system can’t properly recognize and clear biotoxins, so the inflammation keeps going long after the exposure. Water-damaged buildings are the most common trigger, and it’s a real, measurable condition, not an allergy and not “all in your head.”
CIRS symptoms usually show up across several body systems at once. Think exhaustion, brain fog, memory problems, muscle aches, air hunger, numbness or tingling, temperature swings, frequent thirst and urination, static shocks, anxiety, and digestive issues. Most people with CIRS have eight or more symptoms from different categories. Our CIRS symptoms checklist breaks them all down.
Mold toxicity is about the toxin load, meaning mycotoxins building up in your body. CIRS is about your immune response, meaning your body can’t turn off the inflammation, even after the exposure ends. You can have one without the other, but they often show up together, which is why we look for both.
Mold and water-damaged buildings are the biggest trigger, but CIRS can also follow tick-borne infections like Lyme disease, some viral illnesses (including Long COVID), toxic algae blooms, and certain fish toxins. Often, it’s the total load from several exposures that tips the scale.
Yes. Mold spores can trigger classic allergy symptoms like sneezing, congestion, itchy eyes, and a cough. The difference is that mold-related symptoms usually don’t follow the seasons, and they tend to flare in specific buildings. If antihistamines barely help, or your “allergies” come with brain fog and fatigue, mold is worth ruling out.

It can. Mycotoxins irritate the gut lining and throw off the balance of bacteria in your microbiome, which can lead to bloating, constipation, loose stools, reflux, and new food sensitivities. Healing your gut is a big part of mold recovery, and we explain why in The Gut-Mold Connection.

A few clues: you feel better when you’re away from home for a few days, your symptoms started after a move or a leak, or you notice a musty smell in certain rooms. Visible mold isn’t required, since it often hides in crawl spaces, walls, and HVAC systems. We can help you figure out whether a professional mold inspection makes sense.

For mold toxicity, urine mycotoxin testing shows which mold toxins your body is carrying, and we may add organic acids testing, a stool analysis, and inflammatory markers. For CIRS, diagnosis looks at your exposure history, symptom pattern, visual contrast sensitivity (VCS) screening, and specialized bloodwork like MSH, VIP, C4a, TGF-beta1, and MMP-9. We coordinate the CIRS labs with your physician.

Pushing toxins out while you’re still breathing them in usually leads to frustration (and a lot of wasted supplements). The best results come after you fix the source or move out. That said, you don’t have to wait to start feeling better, since we can begin supporting your gut and calming inflammation right away.

If your liver, gallbladder, kidneys, or gut aren’t ready, toxins can get stirred up faster than your body can clear them. That can trigger a flare of symptoms sometimes called a Herxheimer reaction, which is exactly why we prepare your exit routes first.

Every body is different. Many clients notice changes in energy, digestion, and brain fog within the first several weeks. Full recovery often takes several months, and CIRS can take longer, depending on your exposure, genetics, and how long you’ve been sick. We focus on steady progress you can feel, not a quick cleanse that leaves you wiped out.

We don’t replace your physician. We work alongside your doctor or mold-literate provider to handle the nutrition, gut repair, and detox support side of mold toxicity and CIRS recovery, which is a big (and often skipped) part of getting better.

Yes. Whether it’s the spring pollen that turns every car in Mooresville yellow or reactions to foods and wine, we look at your gut, histamine load, and inflammation to help your body react less.

Absolutely. Many of our mold and environmental detox clients come from Charlotte, Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Statesville, and the surrounding Lake Norman area. We also offer virtual appointments in the seven states where we’re licensed, so you don’t have to leave home to get started.

Often, yes. Many major insurance plans cover up to 100% of one-on-one dietitian sessions, in-office or via telehealth. We verify your benefits before your first appointment. Your primary care office can often do basic labs and bill them to insurance. Premium services, like advanced mycotoxin and functional lab testing, aren’t covered by insurance.

We are in-network with BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS), Anthem, Aetna, and United Healthcare. We also accept Veterans Administration benefits with a referral from the VA.
