Christiane's Background & Experience

In addition to the decades I’ve spent crafting foods from scratch in kitchens, I am also a 1993 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and a 2023 graduate of the Master of Science in Health Sciences (MSHS) Program in Integrative Medicine from George Washington University.

In October, 2022, I received board certification from the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M). As the established global leader for continuing education in longevity medicine, metabolic resilience and whole-person care, A4M helps certified practitioners like me demonstrate their active interest in the science of longevity.

Technically speaking, I’m an integrative and functional dietitian with a depth of experience in health, wellness, and fitness. Translated, this means that I bring you (my amazing clients!) into the discovery process of your own health, and tailor your plan to specifically address your unique needs as a whole person. Not just certain parts of you or your symptoms, but you as a complex human being comprised of experiences, history, genetics, physiology, and lifestyle choices.

About, About

Hi, I’m Christiane Matey—Appalachian mountain girl, lover of really good food, licensed and registered dietitian nutritionist, and founder of Mint Nutrition. Basically, I’m an expert on good nutrition and the kind of food choices that can make us healthy.

Parented by two hard-working chefs, I grew up in the restaurant biz in a small town in New Hampshire—the restaurant was downstairs and we lived upstairs. I was my father’s shadow in the kitchen, and became enamored with cooking and food at a young age. To say the least, I grew up in a culinary whirlwind.

While my food-centric childhood led me to become a chef, dietitian, and integrative nutritionist, I also experienced early trauma that resulted in struggles—with my body, with my weight, and with GI issues. Most days felt like an uphill battle, yet it was this difficult part of the puzzle that ultimately inspired me to help others through food, lifestyle, and nutrition. Needless to say, my simultaneously joyous and complicated relationship with food and my body have brought me to where I am today. They are part of my history and who I am as a whole person, and they are what fuel me to empower others to find their best self through holistic nutrition, integrative medicine, and overall mind-body wellness.

Fun Fact: I love both the taste of that first sip of coffee in the morning, as well as what it represents—a new day and another opportunity to start fresh and move forward with intention.
