About

Christiane's Background & Experience

My role as an integrative and functional dietitian stems from decades of crafting healthy food from scratch — a passion complemented by degrees from the Culinary Institute of America and the Master of Science in Health Sciences Program in Integrative Medicine at George Washington University.

My commitment to staying at the forefront of my field is further demonstrated by my certification from the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M). A4M, the global leader in continuing education in longevity medicine, metabolic resilience, and whole-person care, ensures that certified practitioners like me are actively engaged in the science of longevity.

For you (my amazing clients!), this comprehensive experience gives you one-stop shopping for troubleshooting imbalances and making lifestyle changes that encompass diet, wellness, and fitness. Together, we’ll delve into the root cause of your symptoms and customize a plan to address your unique needs as a whole person. Not just certain parts of you or your symptoms but you as a complex human being with your own history, genetics, physiology, spirituality, and lifestyle choices. We’ll work hard to make the plan stick. That includes texting you every morning if you need a cheerleader and additional accountability.

MY STORY

Meet Christiane Matey

Hi, I’m Christiane Matey — Founder of MINT Nutrition, licensed nutritionist, registered dietitian, mother, and chef. I’m obsessed with delicious food and living a healthy lifestyle in Mooresville, North Carolina. My early struggles with body image, weight, and gastrointestinal issues (which might be like yours) led me to study integrative nutrition, which is a whole-person approach that empowers people to feel better and make lasting changes. In a nutshell, I’m trained to help you learn about good nutrition and take control of your life with knowledge and accountability.

Parented by two hard-working chefs, I grew up in the restaurant business in a small town in New Hampshire. The restaurant was downstairs, and we lived upstairs. I was my father’s shadow in the kitchen and became enamored with cooking and food at a young age. To say the least, I grew up in a culinary whirlwind.

While my food-centric childhood led me to become a chef, dietitian, and integrative nutritionist, I also experienced early trauma that resulted in struggles — with my body, with my weight, and with GI issues. Most days felt like an uphill battle, yet this problematic part of the puzzle ultimately inspired me to help others through food, lifestyle, and nutrition. My simultaneously joyful and complicated relationship with food and my body has brought me where I am today. They are part of my history and who I am as a whole person, and they are what fuel me to empower others to find their best self through holistic nutrition, integrative medicine, and overall mind-body wellness.

Fun Fact: I love the the taste of that first sip of coffee in the morning and what it represents — a new day and another opportunity to start fresh and move forward with intention.
